Saturday Feature: Children’s Spotlight/Mini-Review

Children Middle Grade Spotlight & Mini-Review

So I missed last week’s middle-grade because I hadn’t read anything in that genre that week. Luckily there is no short supply on children’s books that I’ll read each week. The images of the books will take you to their respective Goodreads’ page.

Lulu and the Flying Babies by Posy Simmons

A cute tale told in a comic book fashion where a little girl, Lulu, her father and her little brother go to a museum where Lulu takes a wild adventure with some “flying babies.” My favorites were how the story was told and how the book was illustrated. The Bug liked all the silly things Lulu and the babies did.

Seen Art? by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith

This is another museum-themed book we read this week. I really liked the overall theme “anything can be art” and got a kick out of seeing the MoMa as the book depicted it to us. The Bug liked the pictures 🙂

Both the books I decided to feature today I would recommend as forms of seeing a museum through a child’s eyes. Both were fun, quick reads that contained a child children can relate to.
