Teaser Tuesday, a weekly meme created by MizB at Should Be Reading, is an opportunity for bloggers to tease their blogging friends about a book they are reading in just two sentences picked from a random page without giving away spoilers.
My teaser for this week is …
One day melts into the next, the endless sun smoothing the journey around the calendar into one long chorus of joy. Of beauty, of joy, and of forgetting. Always forgetting.
~ pp. 46, Midwinterblood by Marcus Sedgwick
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the The Broke and the Bookish where Jamie and her co-bloggers create a top ten list for a given topic. As always images will take you to the respective Goodreads page.
This week’s top ten is: Top
Ten Five Underrated Authors in Urban Fantasy (Some of these do not fit in with Urban Fantasy and what that brings to mind. I figured UF was a wide enough sub-genre I could give these well-deserving authors shout-outs)
From Goodreads: Riley Blackthorne just needs a chance to prove herself—and that’s exactly what the demons are counting on…
Seventeen-year-old Riley, the only daughter of legendary Demon Trapper, Paul Blackthorne, has always dreamed of following in her father’s footsteps. The good news is, with human society seriously disrupted by economic upheaval and Lucifer increasing the number of demons in all major cities, Atlanta’s local Trappers’ Guild needs all the help they can get—even from a girl. When she’s not keeping up with her homework or trying to manage her growing crush on fellow apprentice, Simon, Riley’s out saving distressed citizens from foul-mouthed little devils – Grade One Hell spawn only, of course, per the strict rules of the Guild. Life’s about as normal as can be for the average demon-trapping teen.
But then a Grade Five Geo-Fiend crashes Riley’s routine assignment at a library, jeopardizing her life and her chosen livelihood. And, as if that wasn’t bad enough, sudden tragedy strikes the Trappers’ Guild, spinning Riley down a more dangerous path than she ever could have imagined. As her whole world crashes down around her, who can Riley trust with her heart—and her life?
From Goodreads: Earth, Fire, Air, Water – they have more power than you dream.
Ever since her ex-boyfriend spread those lies about her, Becca Chandler is suddenly getting all the guys—all the ones she doesn’t want. Then she saves Chris Merrick from a beating in the school parking lot. Chris is different. Way different: he can control water—just like his brothers can control fire, wind, and earth. They’re powerful. Dangerous. Marked for death.
And now that she knows the truth, so is Becca.
Secrets are hard to keep when your life’s at stake. When Hunter, the mysterious new kid around school, turns up with a talent for being in the wrong place at the right time, Becca thinks she can trust him. But then Hunter goes head-to-head with Chris, and Becca wonders who’s hiding the most dangerous truth of all.
The storm is coming . .
From Goodreads: Maggie is unaware of the terrifying fate that awaits her. It isn’t until she lands in New Orleans for a full year at a private high school and her unknown enemies find her does she realize that her life is in danger.
As a mystifying stranger repeatedly intervenes and blocks the attempts on her life, she begins to learn that there is more to him than his need to protect her and that he may be the key to understanding why her enemies have just now arrived.
From Goodreads: Lola Moori is hiding a secret she doesn’t know she’s keeping.
She begins to remember someone.
His name is Gabe. . .and whatever they shared, she could feel that it was epic.
Yet it seems Gabe wanted her to forget him. Forever.
The curse that repressed Lola’s memories for the span of several lifetimes is coming undone. But unfortunately, she discovers that some secrets are better left buried.
Abbi Gline’s Exsitence Trilogy… this is a shout-out for her self-published paranormal books because there isn’t one person who doesn’t know Abbi Glines in this community. – One guess how/when I discovered this series LOL Seriously though when is Abbi going to write UF again? I loved this but I can’t bring myself to reading her contemporary stuff even though I know it’s all wildly popular.
What happens when you’re stalked by Death? You fall in love with him, of course.
Pagan Moore doesn’t cheat Death, but instead, falls in love with him.
Seventeen year old Pagan Moore has seen souls her entire life. Once she realized the strangers she often saw walking through walls were not visible to anyone else, she started ignoring them. If she didn’t let them know she could see them, then they left her alone. Until she stepped out of her car the first day of school and saw an incredibly sexy guy lounging on a picnic table, watching her with an amused smirk on his face. Problem is, she knows he’s dead.
Not only does he not go away when she ignores him, but he does something none of the others have ever done. He speaks. Pagan is fascinated by the soul. What she doesn’t realize is that her appointed time to die is drawing near and the wickedly beautiful soul she is falling in love with is not a soul at all.
He is Death and he’s about to break all the rules.
Haha, yeah I knew I wouldn’t get ten. When I first started blogging I was way more adventurous with my reading, I was also not in a never-ending race to read all the books everyone is talking about. My time wasn’t nearly as metered back then. It was bliss
